Kay-ui Kayiu is an 8 months old, medium silver-tipped shepherd mix weighing 40 pounds. She is spayed and her shots are current. She is house trained, crate trained and leash trained. She is good with other animals. She is unsure of herself if no other dogs are around her to model what to do. Kayiu is sensitive to raised voice; non-aggressive. She is loving, likes to be petted, brushed and kissed! Gets very vocal if you don't pet her first! But she told me she really would prefer to have other dogs around! Something about being a diamond in the rough... . Donna 04/20/2010 |

Lizzy Lizzie is a Border collie mix (we are basing this on the way she moves and personality), probably mixed with some shepherd. She is around 1 1/2 years old and is a spayed female. She is active and needs consistent exercise. She needs mental stimulation, is active and curious. When it comes to other dogs she is driven by excitement which can sound like aggression, but it is relatively easy to correct the behavior. She will rush in to meet a new dog and then become insecure when it tries to play with her. To counter this excitement she needs consistent walks to bring down her energy level which will help her to meet others in a much calmer fashion. This in turn will help other dogs to feel more comfortable with her presence which will reduce the likelihood of Lizzie becoming insecure. Lizzie is leash-trained and took to it very quickly so she is very intelligent. She is also sensitive to correction making her easier to train. She is not an excessive barker, just when excited or sees another dog. She loves to be petted and played with! Lizzie requires a calm and steady handler that will provide a strength that she can rely on through moments of insecurity. Socialization and obedience training classes would not hurt... Her shots are current and she has been wormed. Candace at “Sunset Kennels” in Lodi has been working with Lizzie and is offering free training classes to the person/s adopting Lizzie.
