Mattey is a very handsome and extremely sweet typical, mellow Maine
Coon. He is extremely loving, and will not take long to bond with a new
purrson. He has always been in a multi cat home, but he would be better
as an only cat, as he can be dominant, especially with female cats. He will
be a wonderful kitty companion for the right purrson.
Mattey is a special needs cat and has been on a special diet since being
with AFC. He came to live in our sanctuary and was diagnosed as diabetic.
We were able to control his diabetes with diet (using specific types of
food as prescribed by our veterinarian), so we were able to keep him OFF
insulin (he is totally insulin independent now). He does, however, have
some liver insufficiencies that is also being controlled by diet.
Although Mattey has some special needs, he will be a wonderful roommate
for anyone that has just a little patience with his diet.
He will be happy ‘couch-potato’ as long as he has a big scratching tree to
climb and sit on by a window to watch the birds.
He has never been with dogs, so he will probably not be good with dogs.
He would be best in a low stress family due to his special needs and
because he is such a mellow kitty.
Mattey was born April 2012. He is up to date with routine shots, house-
trained, altered, FELV/FIV negative and is an inside-only cat. You can also
sponsor Mattey to help with his care and medical needs.
