How can you help?
Fostering is a great way to save a life and help the animal community. Emergency fosters are desperately needed.
What is the difference between a foster and a rescue home?

Foster Homes
Our foster homes help transition rescued cats and dogs to their eventual forever homes. Fosters help with socialization, behavioral problems, and preparing animals for adoption. They are responsible for feeding, grooming unless professional grooming is needed. Bringing them in to us for vaccinations, and taking them to be spayed/neutered or to other medical appointments. We welcome pet owners as foster volunteers.

Rescue Homes
Many times people contact us about stray dogs or cats but we do not have room in our Sanctuary or with our foster parents. When this happens, we ask the rescuer if the animal can stay with them until we find them a permanent home or a foster home. This is called a rescue home. We can help supply our rescue homes with food and will take care of the rescued animal’s veterinary needs as long as the rescuer is committed.

How long will I foster?
The typical foster stay is three months for dogs. Cats are longer. It depends on the needs of the individual animal . The time frame of each foster situation will be discussed with you ahead of time.

What are the expenses?
Foster families provide housing, food, (we can help with food if needed) bedding and toys for animals in their care. They also provide exercise, socialization and lots of love! Animal Friends Connection Humane Society posts all animal available for adoption on our web sites. We also provide all medical care for animals in foster homes, including vaccinations, medications and spay/neuter surgery.
